We are a church that always welcomes visitors. We want you to feel comfortable as you worship with us. If you need any help, just ask.
Which service? On Sundays, you can join us for either the 10 a.m. Communion service, or the 11 a.m. Worship service (which includes a sermon). Many of our members attend both services, but visitors usually come for the later service. We don't mind at all if you are a few minutes late, or early. The 11 a.m. service usually finishes at about 12 o'clock. Then we serve tea, coffee and biscuits.
Visiting? You do not have to be a church member to attend our services - in fact, visitors are especially welcome at our Sunday services. So if you are visiting relatives in Stockport - or if you just want to join us on a one-off or occasional basis, then please come and worship with us.
Practical points: We have separate toilets (and cloakrooms too) for ladies and gentlemen, next to our entrance hall. Our church is always kept warm for the services. Some of our congregation like to dress formally, but many prefer to wear casual clothes, and both are acceptable.
During the service: Our selection of worship songs includes both old and new songs, and some of them at least will probably be familiar to you - however, don't worry if you don't know all of the songs. You are free to stand or to sit during singing. The collection is during the 11 a.m. service and we are grateful for your gifts - but there is no obligation whatever to give.
Children: If you have a family, then we would encourage you to bring your children to our services. They will enjoy our lively singing, then, if they are fairly quiet, they can sit with you during the sermon - or as an alternative, we can usually look after them in our "Jesus club", which meets as required.
Transport/parking: If you come by car, there is adequate space in our own car parks, which are on either side of the church. If you take a bus, then you can take any bus to Stockport Town Hall - the church is just one minute's walk away. If you arrive by train, the church is less than 5 minutes walk away from Stockport Railway station.
Needing prayer? If you have a prayer request, then we would be pleased to pray with you. Sometimes there is opportunity for prayer during our services; but feel free to request prayer after any service - someone will always be glad to pray with you.
Pastor:
Senior Pastor: Daryl Richardson
Regular Sunday Service Times:
10.00 a.m. Breaking of Bread
11.00 a.m. New Life Celebration (including Jesus Club for the children)
Everybody is warmly welcomed to our services. Come and praise God with us!

Stockport Elim Church is a mainstream Christian church that believes the Bible. As a Pentecostal church, we teach that Jesus is:-
Our saviour. He died to suffer the punishment for our sins, that is, for the wrong things that we all have done against God. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NIV).
Our healer. Just as Jesus worked many miracles of healing during his ministry on earth, he still heals people today. We are pleased to pray with or for anyone who needs God's help or healing. The Bible says, 'But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.' (Isaiah 53:5 NIV).
Our Baptiser in the Holy Spirit. God gives to us his Holy Spirit to help us to live our lives as Christians. The Bible says, "Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38 NIV).
Our coming King. The Bible teaches that Jesus will return to this earth; that he will judge everyone; and that he will be King forever. The Bible says, "...The dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelation 21:3-4 NIV).
Our outreach to the World:
Stockport Elim is actively involved in helping people worldwide to understand the Bible through the Useful Bible website. The objective of that website is to provide clear and helpful teaching about the Bible. There are something like 800 pages of information available there, and about 2000 people visit the website each month.
The Useful Bible project is based at Stockport Elim, and several of our members are actively involved. The project also has the support of a number of Christians from other Evangelical and Bible-believing churches across the UK, and we are very grateful for their help.
Here are some of the key features at the Useful Bible website:
Stepping Stone ('phone 0161-477 2405), 90 Wellington Street, Stockport SK1 3AQ - A safe place for the vulnerable people of Stockport, primarily those who are affected by drugs and alcohol. (Interdenominational, staffed by volunteers from various local churches, including Stockport Elim.)
Free Bible Study Software
The Online Bible - You can download the entire Bible to your own computer. This is not merely a Bible, but also a concordance and Greek and Hebrew dictionaries. So this is a truly useful Bible Study tool, especially for preachers. Having said that, the basic program is over 10 megabytes long, which means that if you use a dial-up connection, it's going to take you over an hour to download it, at least(!) And that assumes that you have no connection problems.
E-Sword - an alternative to the Online Bible. It is an even bigger download than the Online Bible (so you really do need broadband to download it); but well worth having, because it's easier to use and it offers a superb variety of materials to support your Bible Study.
ISA - Interlinear Scripture Analyser - behind the very technical-sounding name is a useful piece of software which enables you too see, and investigate, the literal meaning of the Bible's Hebrew and Greek texts, from which our English Bible is translated. On the left, it gives the Hebrew or Greek word, in Hebrew/Greek and in English characters, with a translation of each word below the Hebrew/Greek. On the right and below, the KJV or one of a couple of other very literal translations. You don't need to know any Hebrew or Greek. The basic download was 7 megabytes - that's just about practical to download with a reasonably good dial-up connection (about 40 minutes). And well worth it if you want to understand the literal meaning of a Bible passage. If you don't want to download the lot, then you can just download an individual chapter in PDF format from the same website (and view it with the free Adobe reader, which most people already have).
The Berean Bible - a lot simpler than the software listed above, but with the download being only 1.5 megabytes, it is practical to download with a dial-up connection. Unlike the others, it doesn't offer Hebrew and Greek tools; but it's good as a replacement for a concordance (type in a word or phrase, and see where it occurs anywhere in the KJV - or you can download a handful of other translations).
Links for more technologically minded members!
The Bible in MP3 audio format - for those of you with Broadband and I-PODs, here is the entire Bible, in spoken format, to download free. You have the choice of a modern translation, or King James with or without music background. Or even Hebrew!
18000 sermons from 700 classic preachers - read them if you have a dial-up connection, or listen to hundreds of them in MP3 format if you have broadband. Includes some Pentecostal preachers.
